What Makes It Awesome

When we say we weren't prepared for the breakfast spread, we really mean that. We didn't realise the Kahvalti, which translates to the first meal of the day in Turkish, meant eating a feast fit for royalty. We dropped by Oz by Kebapci in the morning for breakfast, and after we got seated, a breakfast trolley arrived. That should have prepared us. But no. Only when the last of the dishes was put on our table, did we see what was in store. There's Menamin, Mihlama, Pide, Kaymek, and Borek to start with along with an assortment of bread, dips, and meat. We didn't quite know where to start, so we let the staff do the honours of putting a little bit of everything on the plate. This breakfast is meant to be shared, and we're glad we had company. Because for one person, this is three meals in one.

The Menamin is a scrambled egg situation but with tomatoes, spices, and sauteed veggies while Pide is your popular Turkish flatbread topped with cheese and minced meat. The borek on the other hand is made with puff pastry and is mini bites filled with vegetables and your choice of meat. Of course, not to forget, there is freshly baked bread such as simit and pita to go with your meal. You can end the meal with the Kaymek, a dessert made with rich, creamy Kaymek (cream) and honey. You're actually supposed to end the meal with Oz’s special, Cai, the traditional Turkish tea.
