Peechi Dam, which is one of Kerala's old dam, promises a great road trip destination with your squad. You can spend the day there marvelling at the architecture and picturesque picnic spot that it is.

What Makes It Awesome

If you haven't heard of Peechi Dam, then call your friend from Kerala (we know you have one) and ask them about it. They'll probably tell you how it's one of the most well-known dams in God's Own Country and how almost every couple has had a honeymoon photoshoot taken with the Manali River in the backdrop. But it's so much more than just a tourist spot in Kerala. The dam is a beautiful picturesque spot that's bounded by the Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary on one side.

In fact, if you want to get up close to nature, you'll need to get one on the many boats that ply the river ferrying tourists around. The sanctuary is home to majestic tuskers, deers, bison, leopards, and the elusive tiger. On your lucky day, you might catch elephants frolicking by the banks of the river. At the dam itself, there's a bit to do. You can explore and get a breath of fresh air at the beautifully maintained garden with fountains. There's plenty of small shops that sell snacks and small bites.
