Pick Up A Pencil, Grab Some Chai And Let Out Your Inner Picasso At This Art Gurukul In Jayanagar
Art School Like No Other
Pencil and Chai is an arts school that offers art courses to rookies and amateurs who want to hone their skills. Offering six and 12-month courses, the school enables students to find their inner artists through outdoor teaching and learning, away from the conventional four walls education. Founded under the Colouring India School and Studio in 2013, you can learn to not only discover the conventional forms of art, but also expression through colour in general. And the best part is that they have classes on weekends so you don’t need to quit your job or leave the kids alone through the week. Plus, you’ll be giving it undivided attention if you know there’s no meeting to make it to, right?
Being an art school, it’s also all-inclusive. So if you’re into other forms of art like architecture, landscape and perspective drawing, there’s lessons in those too. In fact, the faculty is so diverse, they’re known to be a school which gives you step by step learning of all drawing and painting basics. And the chai comes in when it’s discussion time — just pick up a cup, and get chatting.
Structured Courses For Students
If you’re a noob at this, sign up for courses in Fundamentals of Fine Arts, and then graduate to the advanced classes. Like any school, you’ll need to attend a certain number of lectures, and then also practice. And in case you’re wondering, yes, there is homework too. We hear the faculty like to challenge artists to compete with themselves, thus constantly giving exercises and assignments. And where might most of these classes be held, outside? Well, good old Cubbon Park, of course.
Price: INR 12,500 for six months, and INR 25,000 for a year.
Carry your own kits, the school does not provide the equipment.
