Navrang boutique is hands down where you should go for all things fabric. They stock up on everything from cotton, pure silk, georgette, chiffon, rayon, banaras raw silk, taffeta, net, you name it. All materials are sold at wholesale rates (more brownie points) and cost anywhere between INR 60 for a meter to INR 2,000 for a meter. They also undertake stitching.
Himalaya Textiles
Saree lovers, get onto the first floor of the Chickpet Plaza and walk in to Himalaya Textiles, a store that houses sarees for all occasions most of which are manufactured at their factory in Surat. Their synthetic everyday wear sarees start at INR 175 while the fancy designer sarees can go up to INR 6,000 a piece.
Moksh Creations
With each shelf packed to the brim, this store has some real gorgeous fabric choices, perfect for when you are stitching outfits in bulk (get your bridesmaids outfits here). They sell at both wholesale and retail prices with a meter starting at INR 350 for the most basic choice of material. Expect to find Brocade, georgettes, raw silks (and the whole list) in colours across the spectrum.
S.K. Fashions
For readymade budget-friendly occasion wear visit S.K. fashions. The tiny shop sells lehengas, indo western dresses and salwar suits. The staff will be more than glad to take you through the entire range, that includes sober, in-your-face and every other design in between.
