Alaknanda started PODI Life in a bid to sell quality controlled spice mixes that could be accessible to podi enthusiasts and first timers. PODI Life sells nine podis, all inspired by Alaknanda’s favourite flavours. These podis are versatile and work well not only with south-Indian staples but also as dry rub, with curries, with lightly fried veggies, eggs and even parathas. All podis are made fresh in small batches.
The aromatic Spicy Coconut Podi with the texture of desecrated coconuts and a sweet and spicy flavour profile is a bestseller. Another top shot is the Crunchy Peanut Podi which includes slow-roasted peanuts and a spicy flavour, slightly more coarsely ground than its coconut counterpart. Both these podis have notes of garlic in them. For something more unique, try their Moong Podi for max crunch with every bite, and their Tangy Rasam Podi. The OG Gunpowder Podi, made with Bengal gram, chillies, garlic and silky in texture, is a smooth blend and their herby Mint and Curry Leaf flavours are also sought after.
The podis come in sizes of 125g and 250g with prices varying from INR 150 - INR 350. Podi Life accepts orders only through its website and delivers pan-India. What’s better ? Each order of podi/(s) comes with a 40g sample (apart from the ones ordered) and handwritten notes (for regular customers).
