With the festive season just around the corner, we’re already planning our shopping spree {not that we needed a reason ever}. Whether it’s to revamp the wardrobe {or your home even} or just stock up for those family gatherings, you’re in luck. Bringing together different brands and designers, two have rounded up eight pop-ups and exhibitions happening in town. And, right in time, just after pay day, so that you can start the month by splurging a little. From handwoven sarees and jewellery to footwear and home decor, here’s where to find them all.

The Red Polka Show

 We’ve already raved about Red Polka‘s {a Mumbai-based online fashion and lifestyle discovery platform} quirky goodies. Bringing their collection to town with a curated exhibition, there’s everything from apparel {including menswear} and jewellery to home decor and illustrations to stock up on for the festive season. For those who love a balance of contemporary and traditional styles, there’s brands like Prathaa and Rini Seal offering tops, dresses and blouses in varied fabrics and prints. While you’re at it, look out for Templetree boutique‘s stationery and Can of Juice‘s home decor pieces featuring digital illustrations.

HandsOfIndia

Love all things handmade? Working with weavers and hand-embroiders across the country, that’s just what the artisan enterprise, HandsOfIndia offers. We’re eyeing their handwoven tops made with fabrics sourced from AP and Rajasthan, and handprinted skirts, all in simple yet vibrant shades. From handprinted shift dresses to kalamkari balloon tops, their collection of Westernwear is tops too. Also on our checklist are their sarees, featuring charming thread borders and colour combinations.

Vastrabharana

Celebrating its 24th year, Vastrabharana’s {the annual flagship fundraiser event by Crafts Council of Karnataka} exhibition puts the spotlight on saree and textile traditions from across the country. Featuring varied fabrics and weaves, the collection includes everything from Bandh {ikat from Cuttack} with minimalistic detailing to bright-coloured Chanderis. Along with simpler cotton and linen weaves, you also get to pick from Bihar’s popular Tussar silk sarees, Paithani sarees {from Maharashtra} and the popular Pochampally ikat sarees. Add some bling into the mix with handcrafted silver jewellery which will also be on display.

Desi Tadka

Bookmark Desi Tadka — a one-day pop-up exhibition by FunkyFish {a Chennai-based pop-up store concept for curated contemporary fashion} which brings together contemporary and experimental fashion by a bunch of designers from around the country. While we’re hoping to check out runway favourites like the chic bow knot jumpsuits {from Lola by Suman B}, there’s plenty more to browse through. Think colourful and ornate juttis from Vian, trendy dresses from Nay-Ked, Tumult‘s cute night suits for kids and adults, and accessories by Valliyan, among others.

When: Wednesday, October 5

Madurai Collection - Kalki By K

Made with fabric from their own handloom weaving unit, the label, Kalki by K {based in Mettupalayam, near Ootty} is all set to come to town for an exhibition. While their handmade cotton dresses, tops, tunics and flowy skirts seem clean and minimal, what sets them apart would be the fine detailing {think prints and embroidered details in bright shades}. Perfect to be added to your collection, we think. Also on offer will be a collection of linen sarees, courtesy House of Taamara.

On My Own {OMO}

Fans of the Mumbai-based boutique, you won’t have to go all the way there if you’re hoping to score some of their apparel. Much to our delight, the folks at OMO are all set to launch their new collection, ‘adorn’, as a festive offering, right in the ooru! Focusing on handlooms, the collection celebrates femininity in its many facets. Expect a combination of oldworld charm and modern elegance {think angrakhas and kalidar kurtas} with shades like ecru, gold, vermillion, henna, fuchsia and kohl.

The multi-brand luxury boutique, Fervour has a pop-up show to welcome fall fashion, and we couldn’t be happier. While they’re known to stock popular international brands, we love that their exhibition features Indian designers. Apart from simple, comfy clothing by The Summer House and classy bags from CORD, there’s mooba showcasing cute cotton dresses and more for your little ones.

If you’ve been planning to do up your space for the festive season, here’s just what you need to check out. Bangalore-based online store, Olie brings their vibrant home decor to a pop-up exhibition.
