Toit, Pecos, Monkey Bar: Our Pick Of The Best Pubs In Indiranagar

One of our favourite places to party it up in the city, Indiranagar has much on offer for the pub lover and the bar hopper. All along the fashionable 100 Feet Road and its adjoining streets, you will find watering holes that range from glitzy to no-frills. All you need to do is drop by and prepare to leave on a high! Here are our picks of the best pubs {we are including bars and lounges as well} in Indiranagar.

LBB’s Loving

Monkey Bar

Readers’ Vote

An old Bangalore pub, Pecos is where you come when you want to fill up on beer {somewhat diluted, though} without spending too much. Along with pitchers of frothy beer, there’s also the rock music and the spice-packed bar eats. The Chilli Beef, Dosa with Chicken Curry, and Lemon Chicken are must-haves here.

Possibly the most popular watering hole around this part of town, Toit is a favourite with every bar hopper in the city. Do steel yourself for the crowds here, especially on a Saturday night. If you do manage to get a seat, first, thank your lucky stars. Then, sit down and order up their fresh brews. The Basmati Blonde, Toit Weiss, and the Dark Knight are all popular picks. From the food menu, do try the Lamb, Fig, and Cheese Pizza, the Baked Nachos, and the hefty Toit Steak.

Monkey Bar

For a memorable night out in Indiranagar, there can be no better place than Monkey Bar. It’s a place that can fill up quickly so make sure you get here before the crowds start pouring in. The bar offerings like the Mangaa {Vodka, aam panna, sweet lime, jeera, and salt} and the Vanakam Panakam {whiskey and spices} give you plenty to relish. The music and the food are high points too. The General Tso’s Paneer, Aunty Pereira’s Sorpotel Pickle Pot, and the Aam Aadmi Eggs are all delicious.

This addition to Indiranagar’s vibrant nightlife scene, Liber is tailor made for the cocktail fans. They give regular cocktails a shake up and present them with a twist. There’s the Tantric Mojito that comes with spiced rum. Their house special — Mustang — comes with caramel, litchi, and English mustard that gives the drink an added zing. Stick to the starters here and you won’t complain. Try the Coorg-inspired Pandi Dry Fry and the Fried Idli that comes with an added surprise of water chestnuts. You can read all about Liber here

Tippler - On The Roof

The vibrant rooftop setting usually is the scene of a happening party. This is one of the few places in the city that caters to sheesha lovers. So, there’s that to look forward to. At the bar, you can order up house favourites like the Sex On The Beach and the Helmet Shot. On the food menu, the Chilly Chicken, the Chicken Kievs, and the Stroganoff stand out. Vapour Pub & Brewery

Spread across four floors, this brewery has enough place for all kinds of revellers. If you are looking for a quiet evening, park yourself on the first level. The next two are reserved for when you want to enjoy live acts. But by far, the rooftop is the most popular spot here. Wherever you grab a seat, you can be assured of freshly-brewed beer and food that pairs perfectly. From the brewery, the Basmati, Premium, and Wheat versions are worth sipping on. The Vapour Fries {that comes with fries, onion rings, and mozzarella sticks}, the Magic Wings {grilled chicken wings}, and their selection of pizzas make for great eats.

Funky interiors, including a vintage Volkswagen van that’s been converted into a bar counter, greet you at this watering hole. There’s plenty of space but it can still get crowded on weekends. The bar menu comes with the usual suspects. And if you are here with a huge gang, do try their cocktail buckets. The Jalapeno Cheese Bites, the Chicken Wings in BBQ Sauce, and the Golden Fried Prawns are standard food choices here.

Plan B

Bye bye Mother Cluckers, and hello Plan B. So obviously, you are guaranteed of a great pubbing experience coupled with good burgers on your visit here. They have a line-up of cocktails that are infused with local fruit flavours. Do try the Jamuntini {vodka and jamun juice} and the Guava Mojito {Old Monk, Guava Juice, mint and lime}. From the grub menu, the burgers, of course, stand out. The Beef Burger and the Mediterranean Lamb Burger are worthy choices.

Doffpub And Lounge

When you want to drink plenty without worrying about a tall bill, drop by Doff. Apart from trying your luck at the foosball table, this is also a great place to catch a football game on the giant screen. If you are a fan of Goa’s King Beer, this is the place to get it. They also make killer Long Island Iced Teas. Pair these with their Basket of Fries {they have a cheesy version too}, their selection of kebabs, and their Chicken Momos and you’ll go home happy.

Tipsy Bull

Add a bit of number crunching to your night out at this bar. Tipsy Bull’s bar exchange concept means that more popular the drink {on that night} the more you’ll have to shell out. This is a huge space so you probably won’t waste precious minutes waiting for a chair. Instead, you can concentrate on downing classic cocktails. When you want to nibble on something try the Pesto Chicken Pizza, the Lemon Mint Chicken Popcorn, and the Garlic Bread that comes with a creamy Artichoke and Spinach Dip.

Loft 38

This massive space is one of the most popular night out spots in Indiranagar. However, do get here before the crowds if you want to avoid a wait. When not burning the dance floor, you can turn your attention to the many treats on the menu. The Pulled Chicken Sliders, the Goan Chorizo Pizza, and the Kerala Beef Chilli Fry. From the booze menu, the Mystery Moon {whiskey, passion fruit, coriander, Brown Sugar} and the Bubbly Bangalore {sparkling wine mixed with raspberry vodka} stand out.

Windsor Pub

An old Bangalore pub that has been given a new address and a newer look, Windsor Pub has retained much of its old charm. Their bar bounty features all the familiar names and does not disappoint. You can pair your drink with kitchen favourites like the Coorg Pork Fry, the Crackling Curry Leaf Chicken, and the Peppery Squid Rings.

The Humming Tree

A great place to catch a live gig and burn the dance floor, The Humming Tree is always buzzing. Their Cocktail Pitchers {LIIT, Mojito, Sangria or beer} are glug-worthy. You can sip on these while biting into their top-notch Hummus Platter, the Slow Roasted Pork, and the Crispy Chicken Poppers. Their Pumpkin Squash Ravioli and their handful of pizzas are also impressive.

Popular with the young and the restless, Hoppipola fills you up with cheery cocktails that are wallet-friendly. For maximum effect, try the tipple from the Tall & Taller section. The Long Island Ice Freeze and the Rumble In The Jungle {a spiced rum LIIT} are popular picks here. Their Margaritas and Mojitos are good too. With these, you can munch on a variety of bar nibbles. The Smokin Carlos {cheese filled cigar-shaped pastry} and the Muncher’s Favourite {crumb-fried chicken} will serve you well.

Regulars Pub & Grub

When you want to go old school drop by this no-frills, rooftop pub. This place is for the beer lovers who love a great deal {a mug is priced at INR 70 before taxes}. With copious amounts of beer, you can also chomp on stellar dishes. The veggie lovers cast their vote for the Street Style Crispy Mushroom. While the non-vegetarians stick to classics like the Kerala Beef Fry and the Coorg Pork. For all the details, click here.
