Before you think I am an expert at makeup, I’ll clear that up. I am not. I am however an expert at looking decent enough within three minutes! All it takes is some easy products for someone like me to go from shower, hair combing and boom Zoom call. And here are my top favourite products that I use on a daily basis to look presentable, and sometimes, rather good, on video calls. And my main mantra? Easy and quick is best...so here’s my pick. And yes, from moisturising to mascara, three minutes or less!

Moisturiser

L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Anti Wrinkles Moisturizing Day Cream SPF 23

For a moisturiser, which I don’t use on a daily basis, I knick my mother’s L'Oreal Revitalift Anti-Wrinkle + Firming Day Cream. It’s light, thankfully has built-in sunscreen of SPF 23, and is not sticky. I have dry-normal skin, and it suits be just fine be it in the hot summers, through the monsoon and winters too. It also has anti-wrinkle effects which will hopefully make me look 25!

Long-Lasting Eyeliner

I need quick and lasting fixes! So for me, the Maybelline New York Colossal Kajal Super Black is an all-time BFF. Not only is it easy to use thanks to the neat (retractable) pencil, but it’s also water-resistant and smudge-free. Sometimes, I need to really roughly rub it off in the evenings as it really does stay on all day, withstanding a workout too! My other go to options to brighten up the eyes and dramatically so are the Colorbar All Rounder pencils in pops of colour - from green and blue to pink and red. And the best part? These can be used as kajal, eyeliner, or lip liner, and are also waterproof. Priced at INR 450, they’re bang for their buck!

Mascara

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Reloaded Mascara - Extreme Black

Oh! Sometimes you really have to impress...yourself! On those days, I chose to wear mascara. That too Rimmel London Scandaleyes Reloaded Mascara. I only picked this one because I’m a Rimmel fan, and also that name is rather enticing. Scandaleyes! It does the job of highlighting the lashes, but doesn’t lay it on to think. What I also like is that the mascara is not chunky, and neither is the brush. It adds volume, but not like a Barbie gone wrong!

Lip Balm

Maybelline New York Baby Lips Lip Balm,

Truthfully, my go to is Baby Lips lip balm by Maybelline, or Lip Love lip care by Lakme. Both have a few colour options, and are ideal if you just want to add a touch of colour to your lips, while keeping them hydrated. And the best part about these are that they're available at almost any supermarket!

Lipstick

When I need to impress on a call, then out come three options! The red range of lipsticks from M.A.C, the easy to use SUGAR lipsticks, and my favourite of the lot, customised lipgloss and colour by Bangalore-based Sabrina Suhail. The M.A.C. ones last very long, but can be more expensive for daily use, but the SUGAR liquid lipsticks are really my jam. Called Smudge Me Not, I got the mini set for just INR 999 (and it’s almost always on discount, and comes free if you buy products over specific amounts, anyway!) and I just wear it over the lip balm or just on it’s own, and voila...bright and shining lips! Tinge By Sabrina Suhail is for the special days when you want to look and feel good. I’ve got custom colours by her, but go check out the ready to buy stuff as they’re cruelty free, vegan, and natural.
