Filling that gap between casual and wedding, Ravina’s boutique in the Ulsoor area will sort you out for festive wear, be it tunics, kurtas or just a very dressy kurti. And it all starts at INR 800. Nestled in a bungalow off Ulsoor Road, Ravina’s boutique is a real treasure trove. The open plan store has almost everything on display, with a few cabinets for different sizes, but since most of the outfits are unique, you best go through them all to find what you like.
What I love about this boutique studio is that Ravina Belani, the owner/designer, brings her own touch to each piece. Here there’s no boring trend-following pattern. You’ll find tie-n-dye chiffons with diamantes, stark black with gold work for a collar, floral kurtis, and even kurtas that might fall into the cocktail dress category. And since they’re all chic and modern, you’ll find plenty of offbeat outfits too. Think funky clocks, peacocks, lipsticks and safety pin prints of kurtas and kurtis to be paired with everything from skinny jeans and palazzos to dhoti pants and skirts. You can really let your imagination and inner fashion designer go crazy mixing and matching at this place. Look out for the unconventional combinations of prints within prints too. We’re loving the blend of pretty pastel florals, with striking monochrome borders.
If you’re looking for something more dressy and less quirky, there’s a range of gorgeous more formal kurtas and kurtis that will work for a brunch mehendi, a blingy sangeet and even for a wedding, as long as you aren’t the bride. Especially since they have a section for shaadi wear — just that it’s not over the top. It’s got anarkalis with embroidery, sequins, bead work or lace for added glamour. Colour combinations range from muted with prints, to flashy clashes that look stunning when you wear it.
