Raw Mango's Signature Line and Three Shuttles Collection comes to Bangalore

Ten-second takeaway

If you have longed for some Raw Mango, especially the label's signature line of western wear, then you are in luck. Designer Sanjay Garg is coming to town with this collection and more.

Signature line

rawmango-in

Though we do have a Raw Mango store at Cinnamon in Ulsoor, there is nothing like having an exclusive exhibition of the label's gorgeous apparel and sarees. Sanjay's Signature Line offers lehengas, dresses, jackets, kurtas, pyjama pants, and shararas where traditional textiles and techniques have been given a modern makeover with contemporary cuts and tailoring. No extra surface embellishments or ornamentation here but just pure fabric and craftsmanship. Using the Kadwa (the ornamentation of motifs using extra weft, according to the press note) brocade technique, a craft developed in Varanasi, the entire collection achieves an almost gossamer like feel to it. Expect rich colours and jewel tones such as vibrant greens, royal blues, rani pinks, and even copper and dull golds. The collection though rich in creation and colour is very wearable and comes with flattering cuts (the dresses can be paired with pyjama pants and the sleek kurtas can be layered under voluminous jackets).

Three Shuttles collection

Raw Mango's newest collection, Three Shuttles, is a line of silk sarees that are influenced by the architecture of temples in South India. Temple architecture pre-dates the Mughal dynasty, the influences of whose aesthetics and design can be seen on motifs used in Benarasi sarees. Three Shuttles instead draws inspiration from South Indian temple motifs. The sarees have been woven by artisans in Varanasi using the ancient technique of the three shuttle with an interlocking weft resulting in a solid border, a separately woven body and tie-dyed pallu. Expect signature Sanjay Garg colours, a minimalist aesthetic and oodles of elegance. Plus the campaign for this new collection has been shot against the backdrop of our fair city. Read more here.
