Ladies, rejoice! Bangalore now has a Raw Mango store and it’s smack in the centre of town, on Walton Road. For the uninitiated, Raw Mango is designer Sanjay Garg’s creation and houses classic and contemporary saris, lehengas, kurtas and blouses designed by him, and in only handwoven textiles.

What Makes It Awesome

As you’d expect of a Raw Mango store, this flagship one calls a quaint bungalow on Walton Road, home. With plenty of natural light streaming in, you can actually see the brilliant colours of the collection without fake bulbs playing tricks on you. Red oxide floors, traditional architecture and temple designs hint as to what you can expect on the shelves -- classic with a touch of modern. All handwoven, naturally!

We fell in love with the silks and brocade sarees that the fashion house is best known for. Even the lovely organza section has us wanting to buy it all. In dreamy white, you will be the talk of the next party in any of these pieces. But what caught out eye was the stunning Heer collections, Garg’s latest creations and a tribute to the rich culture of Punjab. Striking red knee length kurtas and silk organza odhanis share space with old-school shararas and striking lehengas and blouses. In brilliant reds, rani pink, mustard yellow, pale pink, and muted black, with intricate Kawda work, we’re planning to get (re)married just to be able to wear these for the mehendi, sangeet and then pick from the vintage-style saris that bear floral or leaf prints.
