Shortcut

New bar in town The Reservoire won us over with its really cool ambience, its selection of refreshing cocktails and natti biryani.

New Bar In Town

Koramangala is seriously emerging as a hot spot for bars with al fresco spaces. There’s Koramangala Social, Local Drinkery & Bar and Gilly’s Redefined with their awesome rooftop spaces meets bars with plenty of industrial accents and design quirks. The Reservoire too, joins the ranks with its two floors and a rooftop space {mostly for Sunday brunches}. A long flight of steps will lead you to a big space with exposed brick walls, huge glass windows, bar stools and community tables. Plus, cosy seating arrangements. The space has been designed with a bar taking centre stage, plenty of industrial lighting and we can imagine live gigs happening here soon enough. Upstairs if you can brave the heat, then Sunday brunch can happen and apparently the bar will soon have a Wimbledon-style retracting roof for you to enjoy yourself without the sun playing a spoiler. Or rain when the winds change.

Mix It Up

You need to pay attention to the cocktails menu first because that’s what they are apparently good at. We started with the Fizzy Girl, a vodka concoction with Worcestershire and Tabasco sauce, a hint of guava juice, topped with beer and a salt rim. If you don’t like sweet in your cocktails, this is what you need to have. Sour, refreshing and with a punch, we loved this beer cocktail like crazy. Another drink we liked was the smoky Pick Me Up, which is whiskey, oak-infused liqueur and apple juice. It a strong and smooth drink, so reserve it for a night of conversation, and not a wild night out. A special shout out goes to their Infused Drinks section. Try cocktails made with in-house vodka, white rum infused with orange peel to Tequila aged in roasted oak wood.

The bar bites are usual suspects such as fries, cheese balls, and wings, but do try the bhelpuri like Chicken Nipat Masala, the crumb fried Crispy Calamari and the super juicy Kandhari Murg Tikka. If you love spice, then go for the Crispy Lamb In Peking Sauce. Be warned, this dish is super, super fiery and comes loaded with chillies. The chicken popcorn and the jalapeno cheese cubes we tried were standard stuff.

For Starters

Listen to us. Don’t fill yourself up with too many starters because you must save space for the biryani. Seriously who serves biryani in a bar? But these guys do and they do a mighty good job of it. The Karnataka-style Natti Chicken Biryani is made with the local flavourful jeera sambha rice and country chicken. Cooked in a green masala, every fragrant grain of rice was coated with ghee and this is one of the best biryanis we have eaten recently in the city. It went so well with our beer cocktail. There was also the Pizza Quattro Formaggi, which wasn’t that cheesy considering it had four kinds of cheese on it, and didn’t quite cut it for us.

We didn’t really end up eating dessert because we wanted to go back to work with the memories of the awesome biryani we just ate.

LBBTip

The Reservoire’s ground floor and terrace are pet-friendly all through the week. Besides, pet parents, you will be happy to hear that they also have a pet-friendly menu on request.
