What Is It?
Revastra is a slow fashion label that redesigns, repurposes and upcycles old sarees in an effort to reduce fabric excess. All their products, packaging, tags, and tokens are made from recycled textile. They’re hosting a Fabric Upcycle Workshop in association with Silver Talkies, a platform and blog for senior citizens and caregivers, where you can revamp an old cotton stole or dupatta.
Who Is It For?
All senior citizens who are eco-conscious and enjoy a little bit of craft work. So sign your mom/dad/grandma up for this session of fun. Well, alright, grandpa too!
Why Should I Go For It?
Tons of textile waste ends up in hazardous landfills every year and what are we doing about it? Almost nothing! So a mindful workshop like this could also make a difference {however small} and is a good way for some of our older peeps to socialise and spend a morning. So get nani to Bloom & Grow in Koramangala to get her fix of sewing and embellishing on an old dupatta. Plus, you’d be contributing to Revastra’s cause of reusing and fixing up old saris to minimise our carbon footprint. Is it too late now to say sari? We don’t think so.
