Zoya Akhtar and the man who first made road trips aspirational, Farhan Akhtar are 'the' duo for coming-of-age nostalgia-inducing, feel-good movies. So ever since we caught wind of Jee Le Zara, a girls-only road trip flick (long due) hitting screens soon, we took a look back to Dil Chahta Hain, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Dil Dhadkane Do for style-inspo. That's right, a road trip fashion lookbook for us to look our best while hardcore road tripping with are BFFs - because our directors would want us to look like the stars we are, on-screen or IRL. Don't worry, we're dressing you like they would, in cool, breezy and casual with the right amount of playful options. Bookmark now to #getthelook.

Summer Shirts

Are you really road-tripping if you don't look like a tropical vacation in a car? Summer shirts was and are the only recurring piece of clothing every Farhan-Zoya Akthar road trip-themed movie features - think of the iconic Aakash, Sid, and Sameer sitting on a broken wall at Chapora Fort gazing at an airplane in the sky - moment. To recreate the look, we're suggesting brands like Fancy Pastels, Kaala Teeka, Ekaat, and Siesta o'Clock to snag some awesome summer shirts. We're gushing over this Aqua Floral Printed Crop Shirt, this Floral Bloom Red Shirt, this classic Palm Tree Printed Off-White, and Floral Pink Boxy Shirt. The prints are eclectic and trendy - think French fries to flowers and autos for prints. Quirky style aside, the best part about shopping from these labels is that they use only breathable cotton fabric to design relaxed fits, so you aren't melting into a puddle while travelling.

Bucket Hats & Fedoras

Farhan Akhtar rocked a fedora in ZNMD while Aamir Khan looked as cute as a button in a bucket/fisherman's hat in DCH, all while being practical, because hey, a road trip can get hot. Super cool sustainable brands like Re.Banik Upcycled and Label Sugar are bringing back this Y2K accessory in stylish and sustainable ways and may we just point out that they're all the rage at the moment. Get yourself a couple in different patterns and colours, your road trip look NEEDS it.

90s Sunglasses

Another tour essential but we're making it funky and super 90s. The trio of DCH happily wore oh-so-chic and tinted sunglasses in different styles -- rectangular, oval, boxy. Check out Huno for colourful versions of the same, you will find vintage 90s and futuristic styles, all in vibrant colours. Another cool brand to shop for colourful glares from would be Rio Rabbit. Ready to look amazing in pictures and reality?

Tank Tops

There's something about tank tops and a scenic location, they go hand-in-hand. This is because you're stylish while being comfortable, and enjoying the view to the fullest. Farhan Akhtar and Katrina Kaif showed us how to do it best in ZNMD, afterall! We're loving the look of this Tie-Dye Crumple Tank Top from Huedee and this Men's Striped Pink Tank from RIGO. They'll keep you comfortable and looking-good, all day, every vacation. Plus, you get to style it your way. Made from soft cotton, make sure to pick several options in colours and styles so you can mix and match and basically create multiple outfits with one essential.

Snazzy Shorts

Shorts are a big part of road tripping in comfort and we agree. In fact, we don't want to get out of a pair ever, especially if they look as stylish as the ones you find in brands like Craxy Store, Kaala Teeka, Tequila Shorts, and The Short Store. In these brands you will find colourful, hippy, eclectic and bohemian options - all adjectives that capture the mood on the roads and ours on a vacation. Pick several pairs, they're worth every buck.

Laid-back Trousers

Since shorts can't make it to all ocassions, we depend on the trusty and uber comfortable trousers, capris and chinos. They are easy to pull up, non-restrictive and so versatile. We recommend you check out brands like Fabnest, Bombay Troopers, Idalia, Romcom and Safary Bombay. The styles are as trendy as they get here.

Practical & Fun Shoes

Just like your road trip needs to be fun but still practical, so must your footwear. We recommend funky sneakers because closed shoes are the best option for when you're dressing up for road trip. They keep your feet protected from the sun and from dusty road, of you plan on walking around at a pitstop. Make what you choose stylish though. To take things up a notch your sneakers could be hand-painted or printed (artsy styles are so in) for them and you to stand out or roll with the classic white sneakers. We're loving these Mesh Textured Gliders from Cippele and these Athleisure Walking Shoes from Lujo. Want something affordable too? Click here.

Fine Flip Flops

When you aren't wearing real shoes to complete your road trip outfit of the day, you most certainly are in your favourite pair of flip-flops. We can't picture otherwise or find alternatives that can keep our feet happier. Hard to pick from the sea of options we have on The LBB Shop from brands like Sole Threads, Caucho and VA by Vanshika Ahuja but we fully recommend this Pink Textured V-strapped number, this edgy Spikes Embellished Black Flip Flop, these Surf Graphic Slides and this Lilly Strap fancy flip flop - a good mix of styles, each of these pairs is also made of high-quality rubber so they won't tear on you the first day you wear them.

Bagwati Bags

Bagwati was the star of ZNMD but out of our budget. We instead prefer fun and cost-effective bags like backpacks, or beach-perfect cane bags or even cool duffle bags. Shop On LBB has over 6000 options and 100s of brands to choose from but our heart is set on this Pristine Tints Beaded Handbag, this Textured Duffle Bag from Kleio and this Hemp Backbencher Backpack from Bleaf.

What We Think Jee Le Zara's Girls Road Trip Style Will/Should Include

Flowy Maxis

A big summer trip calls for the easy-breezy brunch ready maxi dresses. Period. Check out our collection of gorgeous maxi dresses here and here.

Sheer Shrugs

Shrugs and more shrugs -- embroidered, sheer, long, short - we predict very bohemian, wind-catching-in-shrug moments in Jee Le Zara. So here's our list of statement-making shrugs to match the look.

Denim-on-Denim

Denim-on-denim is one type of styling that won't ever go out of fashion. Casual, laid-back and still sexy, that's how the girls are going to look, so why not do it with denim? Here's a list of brands killing it at denim clothes.

Kool Kaftans

How does one leave off that magical piece of clothing that has taken over the internet in the last two years? Kaftans are the new cool, and we see Jee Le Zara showcasing them in the "non-neighborhood" aunty styles. Check out this list of brands to shop for boho cool kaftans from.
