Go Back In Time On A Budget At Rossitta Wood Castle, Fort Kochi For Just INR 1,800

It’s European vibes meet Kerala heritage goodness at this quaint mansion in Fort Kochi. Your weekend staycation in Kochi could be at Rossitta Wood Castle.

    Staycation In An Age-Old Mansion

In what used to be an age-old mansion of a European family, Rositta Wood Castle is now a heritage home that’s open to guests. And when we say age-old, think stonewalls, wood-beamed ceilings, teakwood floorings, tiled roofing, antiques all over the place, and those laid back colonial vibes. Sounds good, right? Well, it is. Oh, and it could also be a refreshing break away from the usual hotel-style decor and vibes that you are probably used to during your travels. And if you think you are getting all-out European vibes, then think again. For combining the rich heritage of Fort Kochi comes naturally to this property, thanks to the traditional style Ayurvedic massage, herbal steam and Indian head massage services. If that’s not enough, you have all of Fort Kochi to explore with the churches and the beach all stone throw’s away.

    Rooms With A View

Waking up to the daily hustle and bustle of the streets of Kochi is one thing that’s guaranteed during your stay. The other thing? Looking out from the private balcony and seeing the colourful life of Kochi unfold before your eyes. The rooms {AC and non-AC} are simple and come with the basic amenities although the fancier rooms come with wood carved furniture and cane-wood sofas and the likes. Perfect if you and bae are looking for a weekend getaway of indulgence. Adding a touch of opulence to the overall decor of the rooms are the stained glass panels that look extra pretty when the morning sunlight shines through them. Be sure to Instagram it.

The rooms are available in four types — standard single, standard, deluxe, and wooden mansion. The standard single and standard rooms are for budget travellers with the standard single rooms priced at INR 1,800 per night for two, while the standard rooms can be booked at INR 2200 per night for two. The fancier rooms, deluxe and wooden mansion, are priced at INR 5,000 per night and INR 6,000 per night respectively. The prices are inclusive of complimentary breakfast, WiFi, and the likes.

    Exploring Inside And Outside

Staying put for a while during your getaway? There’s plenty to do within the property. A library and a common room with a table tennis table are all there to help you pass the time away. You could simply curl up with a book by the easy chair or the wooden swing or just walk around the courtyard listening to music.

Hungry? There’s a multi-cuisine restaurant within the courtyard that specialises in  Italian fare. If you are stepping out, the first places to check out are St Francis Church and the beautiful Santa Cruz Cathedral. Both these places are roughly 200 odd meters away from the property. Since Fort Kochi is full of history, either get a travel guide or ask the locals to help you out. Our suggestion is to check out Fort Immanuel, Thakur House, David Hall and the Vasco-da Gama Square. The last place is a narrow promenade that’s filled with kiosks and stalls selling seafood and tender coconuts. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the Chinese fishing nets being raised and lowered.
