Wedding Coming Up? Drape Yourself With Chiffons, Silks And Insta-Sarees By This Designer Label
What Makes It Awesome
Traditional, modern, or something in between, Sakhi Fashions should be your go to for the next saree splurge. Something between a designer store and a retail outlet, Sakhi has contemporary drapes, prints and jewellery whether you’re looking for something to wear on the daily or for an occasion.
With two outlets, one in Indiranagar and one in Jayanagar, the mother-daughter label (their hospitality is great for when you and your mum can’t come to an agreement, because they understand the dynamic best!) specialises in designer sarees, dupattas and, kurtas and anarkalis. Classic designs apart, they have a range of ‘insta sarees’, reversible sarees (silks and cotton), and ready to wear half sarees and celeb-inspired styles off the rack! While we’ve waxed poetic about stores that do great traditional designs, the collection at Sakhi stands out for their pastel chiffons with delicate floral prints, silks and tussars with unconventional brocades and lace borders, and kalamkari designs on both sarees and blouses.
All their pieces have a touch of glamour to them (like those posh aunties you see at parties and other large gatherings), but should you not be convinced with what they have on display, they take custom orders too. These orders can go beyond the saree and kurta to capes, dresses, Indo-Western outfits, skirts, kids wear and even menswear. They have fabric available for just this purpose (which you can purchase on its own as well). Pair your potential or purchased outfit with some jewellery available in store that the staff will help choose based on your style preference. Choose from their metal and semi precious stone pieces, tribal inspired, or terracotta collection be it for that statement piece or cocktail party vibe whether you're saree or not saree!
What Could Be Better
While their funky and contemporary collection is worth the money, their completely traditional sarees are relatively pricey.
They ship around the country (and world apparently), so if you know what you want, have given your measurements, and are pressed for time, you can get them to deliver it to where you are.
