If you've lived long enough in Bangalore, you'd know what "sakkath" means. If you don't, not to worry, while you are placing orders with Sakkath, just ask Poorna Uthappa what it means. Poorna's Sakkath has mostly become our go-to brand to get produce that's sourced directly from Coorg. She works with various women homechefs based in Coorg for her curated online pop-ups that feature condiments, spices, dishes, and even syrups and mixers (think Irish Cream Pre-Mix).
Her very first pop-up, we got ourselves a bottle of kachampuli (a staple ingredient in most Kodava cuisine), a fragrant black masala powder, a portion of dried bird's eye chillis, and a spicy three chilli oil. And that should give you an idea of what all you can buy during the pop-ups. In fact, we even got ourselves a bottle each of wild honey and passionfruit squash along with some freshly plucked bird's eye chilli at the next pop-up.
The pop-ups feature seasonal products with condiments, pickles and preserves such as pork pickle, mulberry jam, fiery bacon relish, and chocolates like coffee liqueur chocolates all made using family recipes passed down the ages. Fans of pork, you can even find smoked pandi fry, ready-to-cook smoked pandi, and even the classic pandi curry at these pop-ups.
