Safe sex is important and Aruna Chawla wants to make it safer through her condom brand, Salad. But before we dive in, you must be wondering what are vegan condoms? It's the same thought we had which Aruna helped clear. Apparently, most big condom companies don't disclose the ingredients that go into the production of condoms and often use animal by-products in the manufacture of condoms. Aruna, through her brand of Salad condoms, wants to make everything transparent, informative, and most of all safe.
Salad's ultra-thin condoms are vegan and made from natural rubber latex sourced from the sustainable rubber forests in India. These condoms have zero harmful chemicals, are fragrance-free, (no weird rubbery smell), devoid of any flavours, and are 100% electronically tested for maximum security. Of course, in a country where buying condoms from a pharmacy can feel like the end of the world, Salad offers discreet packaging in recycled and recyclable brown boxes. The brand is eco-conscious, so there's no plastic packaging, while shipment is done twice a week directly by the brand to reduce the overuse of resources.
While this is happening, they're also making sure that more people are aware and educated about practising safe sex, hence 15 per cent of the profits are committed to enabling sex education in schools and colleges in India.
