The Iconic Archies comics are getting an Indian adaptation, thanks to Zoya Akhtar! We've seen the cast announcement over and over and can't stop obsessing over the nostalgic look of it all. The film is going to be the start of the career of Gen Z/Millennial Bollywood celebs which includes Shahrukh Khan's daughter Suhana Khan, Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya, and Boney Kapoor's daughter Khushi Kapoor. Midge Klump played by musician, Dot. also features in the show. In the comics, she doesn’t have too prominent a role, but in the trailer is shown to wear rather preppy and girly outfits. Featuring plenty of florals, flowy silhouettes, and texture (pleats, ruffles and the like). While we don’t have the exact deets on the character's style outside of the trailer, here’s how you can channel it in your own looks.
#GetTheLook: Midge Klump aka Dot's Look From The Archies
Floral Vest + Cardigan
The first thing that jumps out at you in Midge’s looks is the floral vest! A big part of the 60s, this time of year doesn’t see too many in India, but we found this vintage style vest on Mango. There’s also a brief flash of a yellowish-green button-down full sleeve cardigan, and you can get a similar one here on Ajio.
Floral Shirt
Underneath the floral vest is a floral shirt in a red/dark pink, and American Eagle has a similar one, albeit with a larger, more tropical print. For a more vintage look, get something similar with a puff sleeve.
Pleated Skirt
With midi skirts back in trend, feel free to pick any floral, calf-length skirt. Ideally pleated or A-Line. It works for all situations and climates too. If you’re too lazy to hunt, pick this skirt from H&M
Ruffled Socks
You may not have noticed it while watching the trailer the first time, but Midge also happens to be wearing ruffled socks. It’s a bit tough to find the exact one, but if you really want to go for the preppy school girl look Miniso and Only have options, though the ruffles are not too OTT. They’d look great with Mary Janes!
Block Heeled Shoe
Keeping with the schoolgirl trend is Mary Jane heels. If you don’t want exactly that, these strappy pumps from Project Eve will have you sorted. If you don’t like straps and buckles, this solid block heel from Woodland (and this one is super comfortable too) should do the trick.
Cloche Hat
Did you also love the adorable hat that Midge was sporting? Known as a cloche hat, it’s like a bucket hat but the brim isn’t as even in width and the crown is more rounded. If that’s what you want, there’s a dressy option by Odette. For something more casual, functional and less expensive, this quilted hat by Na-Kd will do just fine.
