A trained Kathak dancer and mama of two, Sindhu Rajkumar’s fitness journey is one that inspires. This fitness junkie shed all 29 kgs of baby weight for the second time around and here’s how she did it.

One Fit Mama

Keeping fit has always been a big priority in Sindhu Rajkumar’s life. From being a classical dancer in her youth to currently running the fitness centre VO2max in JP Nagar along with her husband, Sindhu has always made sure she gets plenty of exercise regularly. When she gave birth to her first child in 2009, she put on around 27 kgs of baby weight. But since she was young and her metabolism was still her best friend, she managed to lose it all in a year. However, after giving birth to her second baby in 2015, she took twice the amount of time to shed a new 27 kgs of baby weight.

Over two years, Sindhu had engaged in a mix of cardio, weight training and yoga all through the week. And boy has she bounced back fitter, stronger and healthier than before. Shedding all of the 27 kgs baby weight, and an additional two kgs, Sindhu managed to get rid of a total of 29 kgs. Consistency was key, she says, and sticking to her routine, rain or shine, is what gave her the results she wanted. Devoting six days a week to her fitness regimen, Sindhu tries to squeeze in as much activity and exercise in her life, which she claims is the secret to her fitness transformation.

Work It Out

Sindhu’s preferred cardio routine is an interval training workout where she can mix things up with her exercises. Keeping things fresh, she alternates between burpees, squats and shoulder presses. To build muscle, she does a fair bit of weight training, devoting a day a week to her legs, arms and back. And once a week, she does power yoga to keep her body flexible. Apart from this fitness routine, her two kiddos also keep her on her feet all through the day. And when it comes to food, Sindhu rarely went out for a meal and stuck to home-cooked protein-rich foods all throughout.

Her biggest fitness inspiration is her husband Rajkumar. A bodybuilder himself, these two make for a super fit duo and run their own gym, VO2max. Sindhu even steps in sometimes and takes fitness classes at this 7,000 square foot space in JP Nagar. Sindhu has taken her fitness advice to the small screen as well and has a daily eight-minute segment on fitness on Kasturi, a Kannada TV channel every morning. Yep! This supermom is #fitnessgoals
