What Is It?

Slow Fashion is not what it sounds like. It’s the movement that encourages slower production, fair wages, lower carbon footprints and zero waste in the fashion industry. In an effort to raise awareness for conscious and sustainable fashion, Purple Fete, a fashion and arts event company, is organising a Slow Fashion Weekend. Hosted by eco-friendly fashion brand Ethic Attic, we’ll get to see plenty of sustainable brands like Vermillion by Poornima Narayan, Rouka by Sreejith Jeevan and Dori Designs by Nikitha Satish launching their apparel and accessory collections.

Who Is It For?

Here’s some retail therapy that doesn’t sit on your conscience. If you’re strongly against animal testing, animal furs, non-biodegradable clothing and just haven’t been able to find enough brands that stand by your principles, this is the event for you.

Why Should I Go For It?

Firstly, to find out exactly what slow fashion is. Let’s admit it, a lot of us don’t consciously make decisions to ensure that we’re not harming the planet or the people behind our products and this is a good chance to do exactly that. You can get hand-crafted jewellery by Vermillion, hand woven cotton garments from Rouka and ilkal hand woven fabrics from Dori Designs. Ethic Attic is also launching their own collection of accessories and clothes made out of fair trade organic cotton and hand woven cotton.
