Search for #EveryPersonInBangaloreCity on Instagram and you’ll come across Spreefirit’s series of charming portraits of interesting people that she’s met in the city. This is a personal project that Vijaya Aswani decided to do back in the day. Armed with a sketchbook and a pouch full of drawing pens, she would visit cafes around the city, sketching fun, caricatures of people she mets. But given the current Covid situation she has taken most of her client services online.
Together with working on freelance projects, Vijaya is focusing on building her wedding invites section through her website. Basically, this section showcases a portfolio of wedding cards she designs as per client needs. They range from cute, quirky, intimate to whatever-you-please. She says that now since weddings cannot be as grand as they used to sending a personalised invite to a loved who cannot make it means that much more.
Vijaya has also branched out into merchandising her artwork into fun relatable comics, illustrations and cards. So on her website you can also buy cards (INR 60) for difficult relationships featuring a pineapple and a cacti features 'prickly' banter that you expect with close friends, or siblings even. The water colour Punny Girl cards are priced at INR 100. There's a set of funky bowties and bandannas for INR 1,200 and INR 400 too.
A themed calendar is in the works and should make it on the website soon so keep your eyes peeled.
