Stance, the new kid on the block, is your answer to upping your home decor game with some indie labels. Plus, they do a bit of accessories and clothing as well.

Taking A Stance

A bit nondescript at first glance, it’s the sharply designed logo that catches your eye and invites you into this well-designed store located in 4th Block, Jayanagar. Unlike the run-of-the-mill home decor stores across Bangalore, the layout out of the store feels like you are in somebody’s home, a home that’s tastefully done up with indie labels. Everything’s on display, but you don’t feel like you are entering a cluttered room. Or like an elephant in a china shop. There’s enough space for you to move around and explore the various sections of the store — living room, dining, and bedroom decor — and pick something that you fancy.

Indie All The Way

From mugs to table runners and clocks to backpacks, Stance is home to indie designer labels that you might not find elsewhere. For instance, Kurma, run by Maneet and Marcus, offers table runners, cushion covers, comforters, and the likes that are beautifully hand block printed in nature-inspired designs such as birds, acorns, and leaves. Perfect for gifting or doing your space up, a brand we would recommend. Studio Kassa, the accessories label, caters more to the millennial and the hidden millennial in all of us, and offers a savvy collection of accessories, bags, and baggage. Handcrafted leather products are what these guys do and you would love their wallets, backpacks, and laptop covers. Other interesting labels include Amitansh Thinking Studio which does curios and shelf pieces made from concrete, and Rayden, that does aesthetically designed dinnerware.

Bring Home Some Indie Love

In short, if we were to tell you what Stance is all about, we would tell you that it’s a space that curates contemporary everyday products that you and I can afford without having to burn a hole in the pocket. A space where you could get some sweet-smelling herbal soap from Do Bundar for just INR 150. Or a space where you’d bring home some terracotta products from Mrdaa that are priced between INR 400 and INR 500. Stance is all about the designs rather than the price tag attached to the labels, which is probably why we were so caught up in the world of hand block printed cushions covers and furnishings from Kurma. Of course, Kurma’s ‘everything between INR 500 and INR 1000’ did put a smile our faces, but it’s only because we knew that getting something as unique as the dinosaur bunting that we picked up for INR 780.

So, We Are Thinking...

We could wax lyrical about the various labels here, but a trip down is what you should be doing after you’ve read this recommendation.
