Sun, Shades and Sips: LBB’s Pro Guide to the SulaFest

The information in this post might be outdated

What is it?

SulaFest is a two-day wine and music festival held at the gorgeous Sula Vineyards, located on the outskirts of Nashik, Maharashtra. Usually it features national and international artists ranging from EDM to folk music and calls itself a ‘Gourmet World Music’ Festival.

This year they have over 100 international and national artists, more than 25 genres, 23 nations and over 30 gourmet food and beverage options – SulaFest 2016 in its 9th edition is going to be truly a frolicking weekend!

For accommodation you can choose from the different hotels nearby or get adventurous  and book a tent at the tent city right behind the vineyards. You can definitely expect a mix of great music, wine, drinks, gourmet food, fashion and shopping in the idyllic environs of the vineyards and the winery’s beautiful open-air, Greek-style amphitheater.

Where is it?

In a quiet little village called Govardhan, off Gangapur-Savargaon Road, Nashik. To get to the venue from the city, one has to drive through meandering roads, past farms and fields and small little ponds. The drive itself is pretty fantastic.

How do I get there?

Fly to Mumbai and then drive down. The highway is brilliant and the terrain, picturesque.

What is unique about it?

The venue and the wine of course {Psst! They don’t ask for ID}. Indulge in wine tastings, grape stomping and many more fun activities at the activity zone. Don’t miss out on the special wine and ice cream pairing. Vast blue skies, surrounded by acres of land without a concrete structure in sight is pure bliss.

The line-up looks wonderful with The Cat Empire, Kailasa, Balkan Beat Box, Dub Inc, Success, Made In Barcelona, Delhi2Dublin, Reggae Rajahs, Madboy/Mink, Tribal Flora, Rodney Branigan, Aqua Dominatrix and many more.

Best time to visit?

While the festival happens in February every year {weather being conducive for a music festival}, monsoons are an even better time to visit Nashik. Each and every blade of grass is the lushest green possible.

Don’t leave home without?

Sunblock, because it is really sunny! And all the monies ever to spend at the SulaFest Bazaar with its foot massages, grape stomping, and more.

#LBBTip

Do carry your go-to hangover diffusing ingredients, as well as shades, a nice sundress and a hat, because it tends to get warm.

What must you see?

There’s a small lake close to the vineyards. The windmills on the hills surrounding Nashik are also gorgeous for a drive. Just drive up early morning, sit and chill out on hilltops, for the town looks beautiful from atop.

What should I buy?

Wine of course, and exciting SulaFest merchandise.
