What Makes It Awesome

A lifestyle change is scary, we get it. But what if we told you it can be happy, colourful, bang for your buck and a good deed? In Sustainable Suz, this is a legit promise! On top, you get to enjoy Indian handlooms and fabrics in many forms without having to do a full 180 life change.

If you are familiar with the Bangalore sustainable fashion scene, you already know Susan (formerly the Founder of Anu & Susan), a lady who knows Indian fabrics and handlooms like no other (25 years of fashion experience seals it, no?). Having to shut shop due to the Covid-19 pandemic was devastating, she shares but her love for sewing and creating led her to Susan sources handloom fabrics from weavers in tiny villages across Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka including khadi bhandars and linen clubs. These are then handed over with the design template to the local women artisans and turn into gorgeous Aprons, pure Cotton and Silk Masks line with soft mulmul, and bestsellers -- Canvas Totes and 'Wash Me, Wear Me' Travel Bags. The profits from the sales are then handed over to them. Susan says she gets to support her dreams and the underprivileged this way.

The aprons and totes have to be our favourites. Bright, full of different prints and little details like mismatched or patched handles and pockets, give these character and a certain charm. Plus, they can be reused over and over, great alternatives to nasty single-use plastics and acrylics!

Pro-Tip

Sustainable Suz also upcycles or recycles leftovers fabrics into breathable and pretty as a picture, masks, and now trendy scrunchies too! She soon intends on launching a line of unique men's casual shirts with one-off prints! Prices for the current range stand at INR 100 to INR 1,000.
