It’s not often that you come across a serene space in Bangalore’s CBD, which makes Svatma an oasis of peace, calm, yoga and meditation.

Yoga For The Soul

If you’ve been looking to join a yoga class but find the existing ones a bit too crowded, we feel you. Group yoga can be very inspiring but not when you’re tumbling around because there’s no space. It’s possibly why when we came across Svatma {which means one’s soul}, we were very pleased. A soothing space on the second floor of a building, right on Vittal Mallya Road, this one is done up in wood, stone, and gentle hues of yellow, already setting the tone for what kind of a yoga studio they are — mellow and soulful {they even say this is yoga for the soul}.

Strike A Pose

They have a set schedule of classes, so you can pick the time and the type of yoga you’d like to pursue. Aayushi Bansal, the founder and one of the teachers here, will make sure you are part of a session you’ll fit well with. Don’t worry about being a beginner or a serious pro, all are welcome, to practice and you’ll be given different instructions in your class. Currently, you can sign up for pranayam, ashtanga, vinayasa and hatha yoga, if you’re more of a traditionalist. There’s also Power Yoga, if you’re OK with a faster paced version. This place also offers Yin Yoga classes which is ideal if you want to focus on strength, flexibility and ability hold an asana for a longer duration.

Svatma, as a space, also hosts events which you’ll need to sign up for, to be alerted. They also organise trial sessions, if you’re still not sure that yoga is for you.
