Celebrating 24 {and counting} glorious years in the business, Szechwan Court at The Oberoi is marking the occasion by offering a menu that includes old favourites along with current hits. We share what you must try!

Let’s Celebrate!

Recently, at a glitzy event held at The Oberoi, Bangalore, Glenlivet {the premium whiskey brand} and Szechwan Court came together to raise a glass to their history. The Glenlivet Founders Reserve is celebrating its 200-year old legacy by teaming up with the country’s foremost culinary institutions. In Bangalore, Szechwan Court was chosen because it was the city’s first fine-dining, authentic Chinese restaurant. And it has been serving its loyal base of customers for over 24 years.

All Time Favourites

Apart from rubbing shoulders with a handful of the who’s who of the city, we also feasted on a menu that included customer and kitchen favourites from across 24 years. The items on our curated menu are part of Szechwan Court’s everyday offerings. And these are the dishes that you absolutely must try.

Start off with a bowl of their Tofu and Black Mushroom Soup. The clear broth comes with slivers of silken tofu and shards of mushroom that give the soup a warm, earthy flavour. For the main course, we paired our jasmine rice with the excellent Tenderloin Black Pepper. The slices of tender meat that were given a real smokiness thanks to the black pepper elevated the rice dish. You will definitely go back for a second helping {we sure did}.

Love, From China

The simple, no-fuss flavours of the Steamed Fish with ginger soy and coriander was also a winner. And the freshness and the textures of the Bean Sprout and Bamboo in Garlic Soy too wowed us. We finished our meal with a warm bao that was stuffed with custard and a luscious Litchi ice cream that highlighted the sweetness of the fruit through and through. We can’t wait to see what they’ll explore next!
