Infinity Pools, Swanky Villas And Stunning Views: This Rainforest Resort In Coorg Is Vacay Goals
Shortcut
Lobbying For A Great View
You know that the Taj Group knows how to give you a good time. But when you check into the Taj Madikeri Resort & Spa, it takes on a whole new level. Mostly because of the location, but also because there’s a conference room, an activity centre, a yoga deck, and wait for it… 30,000 square feet of spa. Yup, just spa! Throw in an infinity pool, which by the way, is temperature controlled, and has two bubbling Jacuzzis flanking it, and it’s truly heaven. So, you see why I suggest you splash out {albeit quite a bit}, to stay here?
In the sprawling 180 acres, there are 63 cottages and villas for you to check in solo or with bae, fam, or the squad. And all of them offer that valley view that you probably won’t get enough of. The cottages are designed with Kodava influences so you can expect the typical sloping roofs, pillars, open-to-sky terraces that are seen in the heritage homes. Since it’s mostly city slickers staying here to zone out of the fast life, large windows in the rooms make sure you’re always looking out onto the rainforest, and it’s almost like you’re living in the outdoors. And I’m calling it the ‘tree-house effect!’. While we’re usually telling you to keep phones away on holiday, this one deserves any Instagram updates. Or better still Latergrams!
Rooms With A View And A Pool
If you want to splurge for a special occasion, or just because you want to spoil yourself a bit, they have a special residence for you. Perhaps the best villas of the lot are the ones that come with a heated swimming pool. These villas have three rooms complete with living and dining space and the pool area with a retractable roof. A fireplace in every villa makes it perfect to cuddle up during cold nights. Guys, these villas are what you need to book if you are going with your family. Or a honeymoon.
Tempted though you may be to never leave the cottages with pools, the infinity pool is something that you shouldn’t miss out on and if you have a waterproof camera, we suggest swimming to the edge and taking a selfie with the hills and greens in the background. Then warm up in the open-air Jacuzzis. Come night time, the upper deck of the lobby, which opens out to a gorgeous observation deck that’s more than 4000 feet above sea level is a spot for some stargazing. Daytime, the spot is perfect for watching the fog settle in and taking selfies of course.
Get Out And Explore
Don’t think your experience ends at the lobby or in your private cottage. There are curated tours, pottery classes, plantation tours, adventure activities, and more for you to experience during your vacation. Oh, and did we mention the about the fine dining places where you could dig into authentic Kodava cuisines to Continental and Far East fares? Nellaki is where you need to head to for your fill of Coorgi fare. Ooh, Pandi Curry. Yes, please. If you are looking for something grilled, then the poolside dining area is where you need to head to with catch of the day being a speciality. If your plan is to relax and not do much during your vacation, there are plenty of spots for you to settle in with a book and your music. Or you could get those sore muscles relaxed at the Jiva spa.
Booking Your Vacation
Now, bear in mind that this is a 5-star resort, so the prices are on the jaw-dropping side {to us at least}. The standard one-night stay starts around INR 15,000 and is inclusive of the usual amenities including WiFi. You can find out more details here.
