While it was a hard-fought victory against the terrain and native people, the Pilgrims who arrived in America had plenty to celebrate back in 1621. And in that spirit of giving thanks, the tradition continues, though now, at least for us here, it could well be Turkey Day. But we all have gratitude to show for something, and we think it's a great idea to feast while we're at it. So here's were you can head to this Thanksgiving.

One of the first places to start the Thanksgiving tradition in Bangalore, The Only Place offers Roast Turkey, Stuffing, Roast Gravy, Creamed Potatoes, Boiled Veggies, Candied Yams, Sweet Corn and Cranberry Sauce in a buffet style. Of course, homemade Pumpkin Pie is in order, especially since it’s always been their speciality!

In addition to their normal dinner buffet which encompasses Oriental, Indian, European and other global dishes, there will be a selection of traditional holiday specials to dishes to celebrate. Think roasted turkey fresh off the rotisserie to be accompanied by baby beets, carrots, roasted peppers, cranberry chutney, Rosemary potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Then chestnut and bread stuffing and chargrilled sweet potato to really set the Pilgrim mood. End with classic pumpkin pie, or chestnut and fig tarts for a change.

Thanksgiving dinner at Chilis

Offering a mix of appetisers, main course, dessert and even a kids menu, the quintessential South West America diner will go all out for Thanksgiving. Expect Chicken Wings, Southwestern Rolls, Classic Nachos and Spinach Mushroom dip with chips. Follow that up with two entrees, picking from burgers, pastas, Mexican specials, or Country Fried Chicken. Sides include Loaded Mashed Potatoes, Homestyle Fries, Corn on the Cob, plus mini pizzas, sandwiches and burgers for the kids. While there is no turkey, make up for it with Sizzling Brownie Sundae, Cinnamon Molten Cake, Carrot Cake, Molten Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie and Cheesecake.

This dreamy tree-house like restaurant is offering a set three-course menu for the holiday. Start with Curried Cauliflower and Leek Veloute, then choose from Goat Cheese Panna Cotta, Chicken Liver Masala or Sautéed Mushrooms in Spiced Corn Sauce among others. Mains include Gnocchi, Salmon Pastrami or Pickled Chilli and Rosemary marinated Tandoori Chicken. Of course, Traditional Roast Turkey with Cranberry Sauce is on the menu as well. Finish off with Strawberry and Mint Salad, Berry Sorbet and Champagne Rose Consommé or go traditional with Spiced Pumpkin and Walnut Cake. They’ll throw in a glass of beer or Sangria as well.

For a glorious buffet, head to The Oberoi. On offer is roast turkey with stuffing, Giblet Gravy, Roast Ham, Pumpkin Pie and the whole host of traditional Thanksgiving dishes. Add on some sparkling wine or stick to non-alcoholic beverages, but what is even better is that you can turn it into a staycation for INR 6,500 upwards for a couple.

Brined Turkey with braised root veggies, pecan and spinach-stuffed whole red onions make for the traditional mains. Pastry chef Aldrich helms the dessert section and Cranberry and Ricotta Cheese Cake with Vanilla Cinnamon frosting, and Milk Crumble Walnut Pecan Tart with Anise-Matured Apricot Preserve, Flax Seed Pumpkin Pie, and Salted Caramel Gloss Six-Layered Marciano Cherry will be on offer.
