SodaBottleOpenerWala’s new breakfast menu will have you piling on Poros, coconut pancakes, and good old Parsi staples like bun maska. Time to dig in!

The Big Breakfast Spread

Our love for Parsi food is often satisfied at SodaBottleOpenerWala (SBOW) with the Salli Chicken, Berry Pulao, and Paatra Ni Macchi. We are ever the fans of Bun Maska and Poro (Parsi-style flat omelette), and to see them as a part of the newly launched breakfast menu, The Big Bawa Breakfast, you could say we are rubbing our tummies with glee. On the day we went to check out the menu, chef-partner at SBOW, Anahita Dhondy was there to help us pick from an extensive menu that consists of breakfast trays, poros, Parsi & Bombay breakfast staples, and a selection of brews, fresh juice, and mocktails.

We gave the Eggs Kejriwal and the Pancham Puriwala Ka Puri Bhaji a skip and ordered the Espresso & Whiskey Cream and Coconut & Organic Jaggery Pancakes on chef’s suggestion. The Keralite in the writer died at the fluffy pancakes and the crumbly mix of coconut and jaggery, while the Espresso nails the coffee flavour spot on. We only wish we got more of that cream to spread all over the pancakes. We decided to give the breakfast trays a skip and ordered a Meaty Poro with ham bits, crispy bacon, pickled onion, gherkin, and cheddar — absolute yummers! It’s served with winning sides in the form of a dreamy, cheesy, and creamy potatoes, cripsy hash browns, and a fluffy pao! Pair it with grilled sausages and you’ve got yourself a mini breakfast tray!

Sober Sangrias & Cold Brews

The breakfast menu is perfectly complemented by cold brews, fresh season fruit juices, and mocktails. Our go-to orders — the Five Berry Sober Sangria and the Hazelnut Cold Brew. Non-alcoholic, the Sangria can be a tad too sweet for many (not for us, we loved it), while the cold brew paired well with our pancakes. No wonder we ordered another round. For those who prefer chai, there’s the Irani Chai for you to pair with Bun Maska. Do try the Parsi Choy, a lemongrass and mint flavour Irani tea as well. In case you are looking to end your breakfast on a sweet note, Jeroo Aunty’s Toberlone Mousse Cake and Gadbad should sort you out.

The Big Bawa Breakfast is available all week from 8.30 am to noon.
