Music In The Backyard
Hoping to bring back the good vibes and great beats associated with music festivals, The Humming Tree has quite a surprise lined up for music lovers in the city. Aiming to bring in some of the best artistes from across the globe, their new project, Backdoors is a bi-annual concert series. The best part? Making most of the breezy weather, the gigs will be held at outdoor spaces or warehouse venues in Bangalore, and we're already excited! But that's not all. Going all out for the very first edition {which will be held at the Indiranagar Club}, the lineup brings together three international artistes of varied genres, including cabaret pop and rock music.
On The Playlist
Coming to India for the first time, there's Canadian singer-songwriter, Patrick Watson with his interesting blend of cabaret pop, classical music and indie rock. Having started off in a local church choir, the musician dabbled in genres like electronic and ambient music before forming the four-piece band {also called Patrick Watson} which will be part of the concert.
Adding some indie folk to the mix will be Jose Gonzalez {Argentinian-Swedish musician} whose signature sound includes the solo classical guitar with vocal melody. We're hoping to catch him playing his popular cover of The Knife's {a Swedish electronic music band} Heartbeats. Rock enthusiasts, look out for Steven Wilson, English musician and four time Grammy Award-nominee. Whether it's to witness his power-packed performance or enjoy the progressive rock that he's known for {in fact, he's described as the king of the genre}, this one's not to be missed.
