What Makes It Awesome
Introducing a delightful concept for bookworms in the city – Books & Brews, was started by The Humming Tree in collaboration with Book Deals For Broke Bibliophiles – India {a Facebook group for curated online book deals in the country}. Based on the idea of a book club, they hope to bring together readers to start a conversation around their favourite tomes. And, while you’re at it, they also insist you take along a friend. The more the merrier, after all. And, no, you don’t have to be an avid reader to be a part of the group. After watching The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society we are convinced everyone should belong to a book club. More so if Lily James and Michiel Huisman are part of it!
They organise book swaps, meetings, discussions and even launches. We trooped over for one such session a while ago and it's magical. You learn so much from fellow bibliophiles, and you open your mind to so many different genres, it's amazing. Designed to be an open platform for discussion, they also encourage you to share your ideas about the book or give suggestions on what you’d like in upcoming sessions of the gathering. And, of course, go around and make new friends while you’re there. You can never have too many bookworm buddies.
With writing workshops, meet and greet with authors, and other exciting events in the pipeline, this definitely is one gathering to look out for. But for now, our focus is on the Bangalore Book Shop Crawl, that's happening in October! See you there!
