The Original Bistro catches your attention from far away with its little, twinkling fairy lights. A cosy outdoor seating space on their patio is perfect to enjoy warm evenings. The bistro is a toned down version of a Parisian cafe, with delicate details such as chic placemats and garden furniture.

The menu offers a huge European selection, with oriental additions such as hearty bowls of Thai curry, noodles and rice. Depending on your appetite, the menu is divided into small plates and large plates, as well as sandwiches, burgers and all day breakfast. The burgers come in combinations such as pulled lamb and pepper, chicken and jalapeno, and smoked chicken and mushroom.

The classic large plate section called to us, and the best decision we made was to order the Brunton Homemade Cheese Gateaux. Served in a stylish mini saucepan, prepare yourself for layers of cheese, spinach and rice all served in a rich sauce. The pasta section offers a selection of sauces which you can add to your lasagne or cannelloni and do your own version of your pasta. The Thai Green Curry is wholesome here, and if you want to DIY your noodle or rice bowl, you can pick from plenty of sauces such as Spicy Basil or Hunan with a choice of crispy potatoes or fried veggies to be added to your dish.

A menu here offers much more than a regular cafe menu, with hearty eats, but the casual set up, won’t make you feel stuffy either. Whether you are feeling peckish or gluttonous, there is something for every kind of hungry person here.
