The Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival is an annual theatre festival that happens in the month of October and like the previous editions, this time around the festival is based on a theme. The theme is showcasing plays based on real incidents or on real-life sketches, so you’ll be able to catch a Hindi play on the life of Vincent Van Gogh as well as a sketch based on the Tamil Nadu floods.

There’s going to be eight shows spread across the last week of October and the first week November, so you be sure to plan your calendar so that you catch all eight.
Why Should I Go For It?
Well, for starters if you haven’t caught that play at Ranga Shankara, this festival should be enough and more reason for you to go for it. Plus, we did tell you that there will be eight shows happening, right?What we didn’t tell you is that these eight shows are by theatre troupes across the country and they will be showcasing the plays in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada. For instance, the festival kicks of with the Mohit Takalkar’s Hindi play Gajab Kahani which is based on an elephant’s journey from Lisbon to Vienna in 1551. There’s also a Kannada play directed by Vivek Madan called Dialectical Materialism aka Mattu Itara Charitrika Pranigalu, that’s based on the dialogues between Stanislavsky and Stalin.
