The city's bustling Thai food scene gets another fiery addition in the form of The Thai Chef Restaurant in Kalyan Nagar. And for patrons who have been to Thailand, you'll be able to tell that you're pretty much getting the real deal here. Especially when the staff asks you if you want it 'Thai spicy'. The menu is typical Thai so you'll find familiar options in the soup section, such as the Tom Kha and Papaya Salad with Salted Egg. Oh and yes, vegetarians, there are a lot of options for you that feature tofu and mushrooms.
We're coming back to try out the Stir-Fried Crab with Curry Powder from the special menu. And Mango with sticky rice for a later time.
We went on a weekend for lunch and the place was packed so we promptly wasted no time in placing our our order. We started with an Iced Bluepea and Iced Longan Tea before we went to town on the Fried Chicken Salad—fresh, crunchy, and spicy. For mains, since we wanted to see if they got the basics correct, Thai Green Curry, and Rice with Basil Chicken were ordered. The curry packed all the flavours and we mopped our plate clean. The Basil Chicken was fiery as requested and while we'd have preferred chunkier pieces of chicken instead of mince, it was still a happy meal.
