Hariharan Iyer and Padmini Hariharan were always fascinated by the idea of organic farming and loved the feeling of working in the field, amongst giant looming trees and the overwhelming beauty of nature all around. To actualize this awe for nature, the couple decided to buy a vast farm 70 kms from Bangalore and opened a cute and quaint cottage away from city life.
Thenkani Organic Farms is located adjacent to the magnificent Aiyur Forest, and comprises one cottage with two rooms right in the middle of the greenery. Each room has its own little kitchenette in case you wish to make yourself a hot cup of chai or small snacks. The cottage stands tall and houses right next to it the staff quarter in case you ever need help with anything during your stay. The cottage is only one of many exciting things the farm has to offer! They offer a ‘Story Walk’ which is basically the story of the farm and the areas surrounding it being narrated by the farm through yellow boards which are lined along the path. They also have game nights, bonfires, tour of a rose farm and a picnic under the Indian Beech Tree, known for cooling down the environment.
