Imaginary Maps

What Makes It Awesome?

Age is just a number and these little students of the acclaimed Bengaluru artist Nilofer Suleman will prove this over the weekend. Witness 'Imaginary Maps’, an art exhibition of four hundred varied and brilliant works created by hundred plus children, under the guidance of their teacher and artist, Nilofer Suleman.

Imaginary Maps is a glimpse into the children’s world of refreshing outlook, innocence, imagination and thought provoking ways of looking at life around them.

The unconditioned ways in which children perceive reality, interact with their thinking and nurture their dreams find expression in their magical creations. The universe of their minds is boundless and defies the very borders of their canvas. This is evident in their works, as they explore great artists like Jayasri Burman, Paul Gauguin, Tyeb Mehta, Hussain, Van Gogh and more ( or - to name a few).
The outcome of exploring techniques like stippling and styles like surrealism are a testament to their ability to express the unimaginable and imagine the unconventional.

This event is an opportunity to showcase children’s artworks and reach out to as large and varied an audience as possible. All are welcome. The works are a result of their tireless effort, dedication and interest in art.

What to expect?

The walls at Rangoli Art Center shall be densely dotted with creativity, thought and learning rendered in colour, patterns, styles and strokes. One can look forward to experiencing great energy and interaction with the creators of these eclectic and idiosyncratic works.
The piano sits effortlessly in an elephant’s brain amidst an unhurried gridlock of wheels. A bird finds itself trapped in a cage, think again - a human rib cage. A flight of stairs lined with ornate, stippled balusters finds itself climbing through a man’s head nested in curly locks. Somewhere, the subject of oppression is personified through a woman’s calm countenance that exudes peace and magnanimity in the duality of black and white. The calm ironically grows roots within the self, as the image leaves the viewer with a larger than life issue to toy with.

These are some of the fascinating visuals that will draw your eyes and send your mind diving into a sea of imagination stirred with deep contemplation.
