With the city teeming with breweries, each one has to make itself stand out from the crowd. The new URU Brewpark in JP Nagar does this with an expansive space that has a brewery, a cafe, a bistro and the city's first gin garden, each with a vibe of its own.
While getting there might not be easy, due to ongoing metro work on Bannerghatta Road, when you enter the Brewpark, you are greeted with 40,000 square feet of greenery. Designed as an ode to the garden City that Bengaluru once was, space features Almond, Peepal & Fig trees. Cafe section is only open till late evening. The menu has artisanal coffee and a global health menu with Buddha Bowls & Smoothies.
When I visited for lunch on a weekend night, the bartender started with some of their signature cocktails, as they are yet to receive their brewery licence. Gin lovers must not miss their infused gins. I had Coriander Chilli Infused Gin Cocktail this impressed me with its bitter & spicy notes.
The menu in this section is a mix of Indian, Continental and Asian Food. I had an array of appetisers such as Paneer Tikka, Mushroom Malai Tikka, Chicken 65, Spring Rolls. Mushroom Malai Tikka stood out for its piquant and authentic flavours.
The highlight of our meal undoubtedly was Pizza. I choose the Four Season Pizza that had toppings of Eggplant, Bell Pepper, Artichoke, Zucchini and Mozzarella, on the perfect brick oven-baked crust. I directly skipped to dessert, some of the offerings, such as Tiramisu & Apple Pie, are classics that are definite crowd-pleasers.
