Helmed by Gayatri Venkatesh, Thread Works is a cheerful boutique located in the same complex as Tea Brew, in Indiranagar. They specialise in bringing a modern aesthetic to traditional, Indian looks and, we think, will be a good fit for your next red-carpet ready moment. Thread Works’ USP is that they create looks from scratch. So, drop in (best to take an appointment first) and they’ll start off with designing your very special outfit. And once you’ve given them the thumbs-up, they’ll go about sourcing the fabric and embellishments to craft your order. They’ll even dye fabric to get the right hue for your dream dress. At the boutique, we spotted billowy lehengas made using glossy silk featuring checks and also options with delicate handwork. There were blouses with heavy zardosi as well breezy, pastel-shade dupattas with lace work done. For blouses, the boutique charges INR 1,000 onwards while lehengas begin at about INR 2,000. Since they source and make everything from scratch, it’s best to get here well in advance (at least a month ahead) to ensure you get your delivery on time.
