In January we scoured fashion magazines and stalked style icons to find ALL the bag trends for 2022. Now that we’re in April, it’s time to not only track the trends, but now tell you exactly where to get the bags, their prices and what seems feasible or not. Of course, if you want to splurge and get designer ones straight off the global runway, be our guest. But if your bank account is cautioning you from doing that, we’re here with more accessible options too! So from Staud and Coperni to Lavie and Mango, get your bag game on with these 5 reigning trends.

Knitted/Macrame Bags

For the beach, for a city jaunt or just to take to work, knitted shopper bags are in and how. Essentially straddling two trends - knitted and eco-friendly, this one is easy to nail. Perfect for summer, and to throw in all your essentials - books to laptops, and plenty more if it’s a brunch you’re headed to, the knitted ones are also easy to wash and clean up.

LBB Tip: The more colourful the better for this one. This is your chance to be whimsical AND fashionable. Get that quirky print too!

Runway Brands: JW Anderson, Staud, Kurt Geiger

Highstreet & Homegrown Brands: Mango, India Craft House, Jaypore, Go Native, Itihasikala, H&M

Bright Colours

Out with the boring, and in with the bold! Rich, bold hues and colours like Granny Smith green, Barbie pink, and sunshine yellow are in. Don’t be afraid to mix and match either. Your bag does not have to match your shoes and shirt. Make a statement.

LBB Tip: If you're into muted colours, then maybe just wear earthy tones but let the bag add the drama.

Runway Brands: Burberry, Coach, Balenciaga

Highstreet & Homegrown Brands: Steve Madden, Mango, Charles & KeithMistryLavie, Gusto

Scrunch Bags

Ruched, slouchy, roomy and chic, this is our favourite trend of 2022. Since these kinds of bags are not bulky at all, it’s easy to just throw over your shoulder and get on with your day. Besides, the laid-back look is in and this bag is all about those chill vibes.

LBB Tip: Don't get confused by the similar baguette bag trend. But if you want that, then check out Maisha and Fizza

Runway Brands: Bottega Veneta, Neous

Highstreet & Homegrown Brands: Miraggio, Accessorize London, Aldo, Zara

Mini Swipe Bag

The Swipe Bag, made famous by Coperni, a Parisian ready-to-wear brand, is inspired by the 'swipe to unlock' icon of an iPhone. Yes, read it again if you have to but there you have it. We love this tech meets fashion, and while obviously, Coperni does it best, we have a few other brands that do a similar style. What you want to put into the bag is up to you, however. We’re still trying to figure out what fits!

Runway Brand: Coperni

Highstreet & Homegrown Brand: Gusto does a slightly larger version, Miraggio too does a similar style. This one from Rakshi is great while RSVP by Nykaa nails the trend!

Crescents & Unique Shapes

Unique shapes are in, and they’re going beyond the simpler geometric shapes of 2021. Dominated by round, crescent moon, and bird cage ones, brands have gone all out with this freestyle trend.

Runway Brands: Staud and Loewe do these well.

Highstreet & Homegrown Brands: Nappa Dori, Mistry, Modern Myth, Fizza Mirragio
