Coffee And Conversation
For those of you who like to mix business with pleasure, Cafe Kaara is the ideal spot to have a meeting — it straddles formal and casual well. A big wooden ‘Hello’ sign welcomes you, and that is the counter to order your food. Inside seating includes wooden tables and steel chairs {quite hipster, really}, while the al fresco area has wicker furniture and a mini garden to remind you that you’re in Bangalore.
The food menu is not massive, but it wonderfully manages to bring in cafe favourites — from pizza and sandwiches, to Thai curries and pancakes. Plus, salads and desserts, if you want to keep it light. To soak in the balmy weather, we sat outside and counted on the Caesar’s Salad to cool us off. And it worked, thanks to the crunchy lettuce and chunks of smoked chicken, though the mayonnaise was too sweet. We also ordered an iced tea {standard, and refreshing}, a healthy and rather filling strawberry and kiwi smoothie which would be ideal after a workout, as well as potato wedges to keep us entertained through a girly catch up. The wedges were lovely, but was our second pick, as French fries weren’t available. If you’re here on a date, order the Sugar Dusted Pancakes with chocolate sauce to share. You’ll win brownie {or pancake} points.
All-Day Munchies
Though we went for a late tea, we ended up staying until 9.30pm thanks to the charming atmosphere, and a shopping session at Tribe by Amrapali for chunky and ethnic jewellery. Naturally, we wanted something more substantial. Chicken Peri Peri pizza and chicken pasta were the top picks and didn’t disappoint. The pizza is a bit rustic but very tasty. We love that they don’t scrimp on toppings and there was plenty of spicy chicken on it. The pasta came with a pink sauce and we have no complaints. Make sure you finish off with the divine blueberry cheesecake — light, not too sweet and with a lovely base that was salty and all kinds of lovely.

We’re heading back to have their sandwiches as these were recommended by the diners at the next table! Their lasagne and soups looked delicious too. Plus, service was quick and friendly, and worth paying about INR 600 a person for.
