While waiting for the food to arrive, we sipped on their signature cocktails. Although the Hawaiian Surfer (a sweet cocktail that has tequila and rum with pineapple crush and blue curacao) was a little too slushy for us, it was a hit with our dinner companion. The spicy Pineapple Jalapeno Margarita (jalapeno-infused tequila with pineapple) with its sweet undertones won us over. So did the heady Tropical Mojito (a blend of Absolut, gingerale, mint and lime) which had enough of vodka to remind you it’s more than just the lemonade it tastes like.
What we ate
We started with Underdoggs Chicken Kabbadi, Peshawari-style char-grilled chicken pieces topped with a dollop of creamy sauce that perfectly complemented the flavourful chicken. Their Global Warm Ups menu also lists out starters like Stadium Nachos, Mezze Platter or Popcorn Shrimp.
For mains, we happily dug into Grilled Peri Peri Chicken & Asparagus sizzler. The juicy and spicy chicken (marinated as well as topped with peri peri sauce) was served with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. Vegetarians can opt for the Cottage Cheese Steak or the Biriyani Sizzler. They also have pastas, thin crust pizzas and burgers to spoil you silly. We tried (and loved) the Makhani Pizza (available in paneer and chicken versions) which had a super-thin crust with a generous layer of cheese and topping of onions, sliced capsicum and pieces of butter chicken.
The DL on the ambience
Music (not too loud), several TV screens and sports-themed writings or images on the walls give this sports bar (with a smokers’ zone on the upper floor) a lively ambience. Pool tables, foosball tables and dart boards to keep you engaged.
So, we're thinking...
Be it for cocktails, delicious grub or the chilled out atmosphere, Underdoggs gets a thumbs up from us, especially in an area that doesn’t really have too many options for bars and pubs.
