Back with its 25th annual edition, Vastrabharana, an exhibition cum sale of traditional weaves, textiles and crafts of local artisans will be in town this Sunday, October 1. Organised by the Craft Council of Karnataka, the event will have around 56 stalls featuring everything from handlooms, yardage, intricate weaves and embroidery, and block printed fabrics and jewellery.

For those who appreciate the skill and diversity of the local arts and crafts scene and have a love for handwoven looms and handcrafted products. Acquiring a loyal patronage over the last 25 years, expect to be around the who’s who of the arts and crafts scene and meet the makers of some of these exquisite yardages, looms and more.
Why Should I Go For It?
A five-day long exhibition, the event will have around 60 weavers and designers and their stalls featuring everything from Ilkal sarees from Baghalkot and Kota Doria from Rajasthan to Takli weaves brought down by Ahmedabad organic goods store Asal. Organised by the Crafts Council of Karnataka, a non-profit aiming to create an awareness of the country’s textile heritage and a sustainable market for rural craftspersons, support local arts and crafts and acquire some gorgeous weaves, sarees and jewellery while you’re at it. With renowned Indian film actress and Bharathanatyam dancer, Vyjayanthimala Bali as the chief guest of the programme, who incidentally inaugurated their first ever exhibition 25 years ago, the silver jubilee edition is going to be a glorious mix of culture and shopping that you won’t want to miss.
