Ten-second takeaway
At the Whitefield Art Collective, you get to gape at artworks and installations of artists from across the country, over an entire month. Plus, art bazaars and video art, too.
Art for all
Think art is beyond you? Then the Whitefield Art Collective is exactly where you should head to. Presented by VR Bengaluru (nicknamed as Black Box on Whitefield Road), in collaboration with Art Chutney (an online platform that lets you browse and invest in artworks), this month-long event brings together interesting installations, sculptures, films, and much more, hoping to connect communities through art. Expect recurring themes like globalisation, urbanisation and sustainability.
Of chillies and cars
Kickstarting with a performance by Thaalavattam (a city-based band that uses instruments made of waste plastic and metal), the collective will include installations by artists from all over India. Look out for Chillies by Subodh Kerkar (taking our love for the spice to a different level), Shail Suneja's three-part installation based on lifestyles - The Cocoon in a Tower, and Natasha Sharma's Cob-web, an interactive installation based on traffic. Another highlight of the event would be the VR Green Car Project, which involves Delhi-based artist, Farhad Hussain, painting on an electric car, to be auctioned later this month (the proceeds will go to a green NGO).
Artsy flicks
If gazing at art is not really your thing, there's more in store! The month-long Art Bazaar lets you score pieces of fine art and photography, and even bags, clutches and home decor pieces with artworks on them. Plus, a lounge exhibiting video art by 11 different artists, regular screenings of Art Cinema during the month (includes the Kannada film, Gali Beeja by noted visual artist Babu Eshwar Prasad) and speaker sessions by participating artists.
