Winning for
Their homely, pocket friendly Coorg food and, of course, their flavour-packed pandi curry.
Oink oink!
Don’t let the humble surroundings of this restaurant fool you, they let the food do the talking here. You can start off with their spiced buttermilk or a glass of refreshing lime soda. You won’t have complaints with either, we reckon. There’s also the usual list of aerated drinks if you want to play it safe.
Once you’ve settled in, get down to business and order up those light, fluffy akki rotis that are perfect to mop up with their lightly pungent pandi curry. The small pieces of generously fatty pork are cooked in a thick mix of spices and a squirt of that sour kachampuli vinegar, that’s extracted from a fruit and is an essential in Coorg cuisine. The dish hooks you and don’t be surprised with if your order another helping to go with the greasy ghee rice {again, another hit combination} at Wild Spice.
The DL on the ambience
Tucked into the ground floor of an old building on busy Residency Road, Wild Spice is made up of a small room with traditional bamboo sieves hanging from plain walls, metal chairs and tables. The classic rock on the speakers is a nice touch.
So we’re thinking…
Whenever we have a craving for something porky, Wild Spice is one of the first places we’ll hit.
