The charm of rustic home decor is unparalleled and what better than wood to channel this aesthetic? Personally, it puts us in a cosy mood and off late we've been spotting hanging pallet signs, wooden coasters, small carved table decorations and even wall clocks made of wood. As much as we're drawn to this trend, we also know anything made of wood is never good for the environment and is more often than not expensive. We've found Wood Tales though, am online brand from Kannur that's doing us a wood service.
Quick backstory. Wood Tales is the daughter company of Western India Plywood, a brand that has been in the business for over 75 years. To make wood decor more accessible and educate the masses beyond teak and rose wood, fourth generation owner, Salman began this venture that makes sleek home accessories and decor using proprietary material and design. They play with two types of material: hardboard, a type of wood fiber moulded out of demonitised notes (read that again with a wow) and aircraft plywood (used in the structure of British Airforce planes in the 1940s). Both of these are first of their kind, introduced by the brand. Since these are skillfully moulded and not craved they are eco-friendly, sustainable and generate less waste.
On Wood Tales collection, there are coasters, table mats and serving trays with gorgeous inlay work. But it's their uber cute Christmas ornaments we've locked eyes with. 25 designs, from angels to snowflakes to chubby Santa and red Rudolph!
