What Makes It Awesome

Modern Indian is the hottest trend in town and the fare at Akss takes reimagining Indian food very seriously. A vegetarian restaurant that doesn’t serve alcohol, they’ve got creative with their drinks with options like Pani Puri Caprioska Aam Panna on the rocks and Smoked Tandoori Bloody (virgin) Mary. The Aam Panna tastes like our favourite summer drink, but is more like a sorbet after being prepared with liquid nitrogen. Their version of Bloody Mary comes with a small kabab skewer that’s prepared for you with a blowtorch.

Their starters have everything from Galouti Kabab and Dahi Vada (with an boba pearl filled with masala dahi and tamarind chutney caviar!) to Paav Bhaji bombs that explode in your mouth and taste like a bite of cheese Paav Bhaji. If you’re in the mood for something more dramatic, try the tandoori stuffed mushrooms that come with their cement block grill to the table!

After their appetisers, if you’ve somehow got an appetite for the mains their biriyani with Mirch Ka Salan is a good option to share. Their Italian stuffed naan is also something that took us by surprise (in a good way). Not up to experimenting? Some good ol’ chole or Dal Akss with regular naan should help you feel better. End on a sweet note with their jazzed up version of the Shahi Tukda or Gajar Halwa Ka Gudbud if y’all have the space for it!

What Could Be Better

Portions are large, which we know this sounds like a GOOD thing, but that with the richness of the food prepared could result in you and your party leaving feeling like a beached whale yet unsatisfied (for not having tried as much as you could’ve) at the same time.
