Bread is our friend. That friend that always delivers, no matter the season, the reason or the person it's pleasin'. But what we've grown used to -- rewind to the days of buying basic ol' white bread from the local bakery -- does no justice to the breadverse. Really! Wait till you taste the bread wonders from Loafer & Co, a tiny home bakery in Bengaluru's Malleswaram area and you'll know what we're talking about.
The menu at Loafer and Co is a labour of love, shares Pranav the Founder. Their whole existence is built on making and delivering healthy and tasty artisanal variations of breads from across the world. But that's not it, the ingredients that go into these global recipes are a 100% locally and responsibly sourced. Pranav also emphasises on the diversity of grains, millets and seeds. So instead of importing high gluten flours, the bakery experiments with Himachali barley or ragi from Uttarakhand to local rare varieties of rice (yes!), flax meal, pumpkin seeds and the list goes on. Each loaf at Loafer & Co comes from tried and tested recipes and baked in small batches, twice a week.
You can get your daily dose of doughpamine many ways -- with sour and crusty Sourdough, house special Bagels, five-millet Focaccia, Mumbai-style Ladi Pao, multigrain loaves like the Loaded Loafer and our favourite, soft and sweet Japanese Milk Buns. This little bit of everything for everyone menu is chop and change, based on the season and how different breads keep, but it does have regulars available all year round. We'd say order in bulk, whenever you can!
