When everything seems lost, a plate of comforting food can always lift you. Whether it is a bowl of hot pho or barbecue chicken that’s still infused with the warmth of the barbie, comfort food in Bangalore can take on many avatars. And while we have skipped the usual snacky numbers (like momos and fries), these dishes should make your tummy sing and your heart leap with joy.

Covid-19 Update: If you are heading to dine at any of these restaurants make sure to carry and wear your mask and maintain social distancing.

Thukpa At Mr. Wang’s

When you wander down the roads of HSR Layout, you’ll come face to face with Mr. Wang, an affable chap, offering a friendly smile and bowls of thukpa. The soothing broth is crowded with chunks of chicken and fried up veggies. To ensure the thukpa is just the way you like it, you can ask Mr Wang to dial up the spices or add crunchy, fried up onions and he’ll happily oblige. To enjoy this bowl of deliciousness, sadly you will have to make your way to HSR as it is not available for delivery.

Barbecue Chicken Steak At Portland Steakhouse

From America to Australia, the barbecue chicken is recognised as one of the best comfort foods known to mankind. At Portland, you can dig into a juicy hunk of chicken that’s coated in their signature barbecue glaze before it is grilled. It’s accompanied by a portion of equally comforting fries. The restaurant is open for dine-in with social distancing norms in place. You can also order in your barbecue chicken to enjoy in the comfort and safety of home.

All American Cheeseburger At Truffles

Comforting and easy on the pocket, this popular restaurant offers plenty that’ll satisfy your soul. Topping the list is the All American Cheeseburger where the plump, lamb (or chicken) patty oozes cheese and sits between two, downy buns. Truffles is now open with socially distanced seating and regular sanitisation and temperature checks. We suggest ordering in, though because nothing like chowing down a juicy burger while you enjoy some Netflix.

One of Bangalore’s cheesiest dishes, the Mac N Cheese at this beloved brewery has the power to put you in a damn good mood even after a bad day. The classic version has four types of cheese that mingle with the macaroni along with herbs and toasted breadcrumbs. If you prefer decadence, then, the Frenchie (bacon, emmental cheese) and Gourmet (truffle mushroom mix, emmental, and herbs) versions should work splendidly. You can happily order in your Mac N Cheese and stick it in the oven or microwave! Get extra bacon just so you don't too sad about it getting cold on the way! ACB is also open for dine-in.

You get to chomp on mounds of red rice (they have white too) doused in curries. With this, they’ll serve you veggies, chutneys, pickles and papad. Top up the comfort quotient, we recommend that you order up a plate of beef fry. Drop in at the restaurant between 12 to 3:30 or 7 to 11 pm or just have your meal home delivered.

The soft, chunks of meat adds to the yumminess the dish. This is best enjoyed with a plate of Chicken Sholay Kababs or the Guntur Chicken Fry. Crowd controlling may seem like a bit of a worry here, so although the restaurant is open, we suggest ordering in your piping hot biryani.
