We live in truly glorious times, when you can work from anywhere and enjoy a leisurely brunch while you fill in status reports. And if there’s one thing Bangalore has that accommodates this work–life balance (or whatever you want to call it), it’s the existence of various cafes across towns that have brunch items and great all-day breakfasts through the week! Eggs in various forms, waffles and pancakes, bowls, toasties, sandwiches, quiches and bakes are technically considered brunch, and here are cafes where you can enjoy brunch on all days of the week. This list isn’t exhaustive, so feel free to tell us in the comments if we’ve missed out your favourite.

Paper & Pie

Paper & Pie has an extensive menu of food that can be eaten all day every day. With a branch in Whitefield and Indiranagar, this is a #peakbengaluru cafe. Their avocado and poached egg toast, French toast and crepes are to die for. Everything is served with sourdough bread and microgreens, and nothing ever feels too greasy. Their croissants, pies and quiches on display are just as good if you’re in a hurry. If it’s a more relaxed meal you’re looking for, pair your meal with one of their speciality coffees.

Hole In The Wall

If it’s a hearty, multi-dish breakfast or brunch you seek, head to Hole in The Wall Cafe in Koramangala or Kalyan Nagar. If you’ve lived in Bengaluru long enough, we don’t need to tell you about them, but how can we not gush about their farmer’s breakfast (an English breakfast sans meat), the much needed hangover remedy (spicy eggs, and lots of carbs with the option of adding meat or veggies). And let's not forget that they have an extensive waffle and pancake section (made with their homemade batter), if you enjoy a sweet brunch.

Timing: 8 AM to 9 PM (Closed on Mondays)

Cafe Stone

Located inside the beautiful Cinnamon Store, Cafe Stone is an oasis of calm in the CBD bustle. Head here for a drawn out morning that turns into the afternoon (much like any brunch affair), and enjoy their simple yet yummy egg options. We particularly enjoy their masala omelette and their Shakshuka. Their stuffed French toasts and toasties are great second orders if you’re still hungry. Coffees, teas, juices, smoothies and kombucha can help settle it all in.

Timing: 7.30 AM to 7 PM

Cafe Max

Serving German, Italian and French fare (to an extent), this is the true European cafe experience. A brunch here can be the quintessential fare with wine if you like. They have set breakfast platters over the weekend, as well as classics like eggs, granola, French-style pancakes and crepes. But we highly recommend you try their quiches (made fresh to order) and sandwiches made with rustic breads. Take a book with you, settle in and enjoy their Italian coffees, fine wine or sangria.

Brunch House

The Brunch House is a bit of a hidden gem in the quiet bylanes of Indiranagar. They have an extensive menu with vegan and keto options, too, so there is something for everybody. Whether you want to try an avocado toast (the one with tuna is great we hear) and buttermilk pancakes or donburi bowls and soup, they have you covered. We recommend going there on a weekday, as weekends are super crowded and you might have to wait up to 30 minutes. The team at Brunch House is passionate about, well, brunch, and have different specials everyday to test out potential new items on the menu.

Klayworkz Barista

South Bangalore folks, if you don’t want to go all the way to Koramangala, head to Klayworkz (North Bangaloreans can go to Kalyannagar). This is a pet- and family-friendly spot (and anyone who enjoys art and painting will love it) where you can buy ceramics and paint while you wait for your meal to arrive. Eggs cooked in all ways, French toast (or combos if you can’t decide), burgers, pasta, and pizzas are aplenty. For those who eat light, their soups and salads section is delightful. If you’re a larger group that enjoys nibbling while talking just pick any of their platters and have a ball!

Timing: 8.30 AM to 11.30 PM

Price: INR 1,200 for two

Smoor

With branches across the city, Smoor has more than just delectable chocolates. Their breakfast menu has eggs prepared in various ways with gourmet cheese, meats and more. We particularly like their eggs benedict. If you're there post 11, the rest of their menu is available too, and the croissant sandwiches are worth a try. But if you really enjoy Smoor chocolate, try their pancakes that comes with the dark chocolate ice cream made in house, pain au chocolat and anything from their range of decadent hot chocolate.

DYU Art Cafe

A brunch at DYU Art cafe is for days you wish were weekends. With a fairly relaxed and quiet ambience, this is a great brunch spot whether you like dining alone or with a group. What sets them apart is how their food tastes hearty yet homemade. Toasts, omelettes or breakfast spreads, feel free to choose from various toppings and accompaniments to go with it. If you enjoy a DIY experience ask for their French press coffee or non-dairy tea options. Of course, don't forget to leave without having the banoffee pie!

Green Theory

Vegetarians and vegans, if you want to brunch somewhere you don't have to worry about having limited vegetarian or vegan options (or taking time explaining your preferences), head to Green Theory. With a branch off Residency Road and Indiranagar, they open just in time for brunch, which is perfect for people who want brunch but not necessarily eggs, pancakes, and waffles. Expect warm salads, smoothie bowls (they have a great sabudana khichdi), wraps, flatbreads and open sandwiches among other multi-cuisine options. Vegan and Jain options available too. Tea lovers, they have an extensive range of teas and tisanes that are a delight to watch being brewed.

154 Breakfast Club

For breakfast and brunch that’s an all-day affair, there’s no better spot than 154 Breakfast Club. With a location in Koramangala and a newer one in JP Nagar, their options (among other things) include eggs that are all fantastic. Their vegetarian florentine, cottage cheese breakfast (it involves veggies and a tomato spread), open arms (features plenty of hummus and mushroom), wake & bake (lots of freshly baked breakfast rolls), muffins, bagels, breakfast bowls and so much more. Waffles, pancakes, toasts, sandwiches, bakes and even steaks are available, as are various hot and cold beverages that pair perfectly.

Lot Like Crepes

All the way in Whitefield is a Lot Like Crepes. Pretty much their entire menu makes for a great brunch, seeing as they have yummy, sweet (all their fruity options are delicious) and savoury stuffed crepes. Pasta, sandwiches, salads and rolls are also available. If you’re heading all the way to Whitefield, feel free to stay a while because it’s a beautiful outdoor cafe where time seems to stand still. They also have a range of healthy juices, smoothies and (less healthy) shakes, and the portions are quite generous.
